Touching Hearts at Home Julie Elkjer

The Touching Hearts at Home mission is to help seniors and people with disabilities preserve their quality of life and remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. We do that by providing companionship, caregiving and homemaking services. By sharing, caring and helping, we strive to give peace of mind to both the client and their family.

We offer a variety of services that will be customized to meet the needs of each client. Care can be provided from just a few hours per visit, up to 24 hours per day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. We are also available for on-call needs and short-term schedules, such as transitioning back home after a hospital stay.

Our family of warm compassionate caregivers are here to serve your needs. They vary greatly in age, personality, interests, background and experience. This variety allows us to match clients with caregivers that share things in common and our training program gives them the knowledge they will need to provide the best possible non-medical care available.

Services Offered:

  • Transportation
  • Escorts on walks
  • Assistance with hobbies
  • Shopping
  • Conversation
  • Meal Prep
  • Organizing
  • Light housekeeping
  • And more!

about the owner

Julie Elkjer has a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Education. She has studied Human Development and Respiratory Therapy, was the Infant Apnea Program Coordinator at Saint Cloud Hospital in Minnesota and was the Assistant Director of Cardiorespiratory Services at Saint Francis Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She has taught Math, Science, Social Studies and more in various schools in Colorado and Nebraska.

When Julie Elkjer consulted with nursing homes many years ago, she noticed there were not alternatives available. So when she discovered there was a way for people to stay home and remain independent longer, she wanted to help make a difference.

She opened a Touching Hearts at Home franchise office in Denver in 2008. It has given her the opportunity to mesh her medical and educational background together in a way that helps people. It takes the pressure off of a client or the permanent caregiver for that client. Whether it be 24 hours a day or just once a month or once a week, Touching Hearts offers that highly needed break and assistance.

Dear Julie,
Thank you for setting me up with Beth. She was just great. I feel so much better that my files are in order. I will certainly keep you in mind as other things come up in my life... Thanks again

Dear Julie,
Just a note to thank you for the wonderful way you handled my doctors visit. You are very efficient. I will call on you again if the need arises... Thank you again.

Julie,
Thank you for your help while my Dad was at Advanced, and thanks to Amanda and Linda! And thanks for your continued interest and good wishes for my dad - it is helping him, and the rest of us, to know of your ongoing concern. So far, so good. We wait to see about "tomorrow," each time tomorrow gets here. Thanks so much!

Dear Julie,
Thanks very much for your gift to the Alzheimer's Association in Dewey's memory. You did a whole lot to help both Dewey and me in his last few months of life -and stood by with help at the very end. You have a permanent warm spot in my heart.

Julie,
Please tell everyone how much we appreciate their help with my mom. She would love to see them again.

Dear Julie,
Thank you so much for the delicious cakes this noon. Stephanie and I thought they were wonderful and Barbara will enjoy her piece soon! Stephanie is doing a great job. She is a delight to be around.

Hi Julie,
I wanted to send you a note to let you know how much I love working for you. You truly care about your clients and your caregivers and it makes it a wonderful place to come to each day. You are truly one of a kind! Thanks again.
